Like attracts Like

I have recently been reminded of the importance of right thought. Everyone slips – partaking of the material parts of life such as violent movies or an overabundance of critical thought. When we let these lower things take hold in us, it brings us down into materialistic depths in which the lower, darker mind prevails.

Self control

Self control

Like attracts like. This is a law of existence; and I have experienced it to be true many times in my 50+ years in this incarnation. I should have learned by now: as the Rosicrucian teachings say that we realize most of our Karma in our 20’s and 30’s. But like everyone, there is so much to learn. If negative, pessimistic, and defiant thought predominates, negative energy will manifest and attract negative events into your life.

Both Judeo/Christian philosophy and Buddhism said it (paraphrase): You are what you think.

  • “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he”… Proverbs 23:7
  • “The mind is everything. What you think you become” (Hindu Prince Gautama Siddharta, the founder of Buddhism, 563-483 B.C.)

Let us all follow the path of light by renouncing the darker things of materialism. This is a challenge within our technological world full of media that promotes sensationalizing negative news events for ratings and profit, and entertainment that promotes violence in  movie, music, and game. We must work to starve the lower mind (known as Satan in Western religious thought) and control it with discipline to walk the spiritual and esoteric path. Transform.

Right though leads to right action.
