During the last discussion group meeting at a local metaphysical shop, the question was asked about Kolob – the dwelling place of God according to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Kolob is mentioned in the Book of Abraham, a section of the book: The Pearl of Great Price. After reading Abraham 3:2-4, I had discovered that it correlates with Rosicrucian teaching in that the Sun is the seat of the supreme being that governs this solar system.
Abraham 3:2 “And I saw the stars, that they were very great, and that one of them was nearest unto the throne of God; and there were many great ones which were near unto it;”
Abraham 3:3 “And the Lord said unto me: These are the governing ones; and the name of the great one is Kolob, because it is near unto me, for I am the Lord thy God: I have set this one to govern all those which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest.”
My interpretation is thus: the great ones which were near unto it are the planets – the Seven great Logi as mentioned in Revelation, or the spheres.
“I have set this one to govern all those which belong to the same order as that upon which thou standest” – this is interpreted to illustrate the governing power of the Sun over the Earth and the other spheres as explained to the prophet.
